I think both sides will win in this situation. The team gets an excellent driver in case one of the main drivers at some point needs a replacement if one of them is unable to compete for some reason. And the second point, of course, is that Mick will be able to learn a lot in Mercedes, he will work in a huge structure that is new to him.
In my opinion, this is truly a great opportunity. After all, Mick found himself in an experienced team, with two experienced riders, and among other things, the team itself is happy about his arrival.
At the same time, you shouldn’t think only about Mercedes. Although there is nothing like this. But at some point, problems may arise for one of the teams that are Mercedes clients (Aston Martin and Williams). And in this case, these teams will be able to turn to a driver who has just competed in Formula 1, knows all the tracks and knows how to handle these cars perfectly.
Mick has room for further development. He deserves his chance - including getting a permanent seat behind the wheel of the car - but also at least as a third driver to replace him if necessary.
At the same time, I can well imagine interest in Mick from Audi, since there are not so many German racers on the market. But in any case, this is still very far away. The main thing is that Mick is now in good hands, but time will tell. The main thing is that Mick is only 24, so he will definitely have a chance to start winning – and it doesn’t matter where exactly, ” said Schumacher.
