Rio: Twitter me closer to Robbie Savage

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed that social networking site "Twitter" has helped him to reconcile with former Welsh international Robbie Savage.

"Before, I hated it. I hated him as a person, not like him," said Rio. "I do not know him. Chased me in a game for a foul against him. I thought that simulates and that this is not my kind of guy ... and then 'Twitter' brought us closer," added Ferdinand.

Both players have had serious conflicts in the past, after Savage admitted that Ferdinand hit the break in the match of the Carling Cup final between Manchester United and Blackburn in 2006.

Defender of the Reds' was sent off for foul on Savage in the Premier League just three weeks after this incident.

Robbie Savage did regularly ridiculed by Ferdinand in "Twitter", putting it in a collage with the platypus. Today, however, Welsh wrote in the social network: "Officially! Rio loves me! I love you, Rio.
