Greek football club Olympiakos Volos was thrown out of European club competitions for three years, the penalty can be extended to five years, the official site of UEFA.
The punishment of the team from Volos comes after it was proven that the team has participated in matches arranged by the Greek Championship. The decision of the disciplinary committee of UEFA has been taken at a meeting on Wednesday. From the Greek club have until Monday, August 15 to appeal the sentence.
From UEFA also said it would officially define who is an opponent of France Paris Saint-Germain in the playoff round of the UEFA Cup. Parisians had to face Olympiakos on 18 and 25 August.
