Newcastle will have to pay "crazy money" for De Jong7-07-2012
FC Twente coach Steve McClaren has warned Newcastle that will have to spend 'crazy money' to get the signature of Luke de Jong.
Premier League team prepared a major delegation that was led by the Director of Management Derek Lambias and the Secretary Lee Charney and traveled to the Netherlands yesterday.
The first offer of "Magpies" in the amount of 6.5 million pounds was rejected as the club will seek an amount of about 15 million euros.
Although both sides are far from agreement, unofficial proposal of Borussia Monchengladbach for the attacker apparently led the management of Newcastle to act quickly.
McLaren himself does not expect the Dutch national to be sold. "The club know what is my opinion of Luke," said former England manager. "He will remain with us until someone offered crazy money for him."
"It is our top striker at the end of last season, but he will have to spend at least another season here before moving to another team," said McLaren.
