The captain of Bulgarian national team Stilian Petrov received a trauma visit of Aston Villa to Sunderland in a match of the ninth round of the Premier League. The Bulgarian was replaced compulsory during the first part, but his team lost a minimum of 0:1.
Goal for the hosts from Sunderland, however, was made by an opposing player, namely, Richard Dunne, who put the ball into his own neck. The only goal in the match came in the 25 th minute.
Petrov began meeting as a starter, but 39 minutes was injured in the ankle and was replaced by Steve Sidwell. Not yet known how serious the injury and whether the Bulgarians will be offline for the next game of his team.
In the other match today with Bulgarian participation, Martin Petrov and his Bolton Wanderers were drawn as a guest of 1:1 Wigan Athletic. Bulgarian winger stayed on the pitch 65 minutes, when he was replaced by Matthew Taylor.
In 36 minutes the Bulgarians had a good opportunity to score but his shot volley went over the crossbar. Both goals in the match fell in the second half. Wigan opened by Hugo Rodallega in 59 minutes, and guests scorer Johan Elmander equalized seven minutes later.
