Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba was elected as winner of the Golden Foot for 2013. The prize is awarded primarily for 11th year in Monte Carlo, for the best player in the world, still active, aged over 28 years.
35-year-old Drogba was the first African footballer with the award. He fought with the other nominees - Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta, Frank Lampard, David Trezeguet, Andrea Pirlo, Samuel Eto'o, Iker Casillas, David Beckham and Miroslav Klose.
In the previous day from the holidays in Monte Carlo three legends had taken in the preceding the award ceremony Walk of Fame - Carlos Valderrama, Osvaldo Ardiles and Jean-Pierre Papin.
Football fans from around the world voted on the website of Golden Foot, to choose the winner. The award was presented by tradition by the Prince of Monaco Albert II.
