Lucas Alkaras was appointed as coach of Levante, said the site of the Spanish club. The contract with 48-year-old is by the end of the season with an option for extension by 12 months.
In the post he replaced Jose Luis Mendilibar, who was sacked on Monday. In season 2013/2014 Alkaras lead the team of Granada, who finished 15th in the Primera. Earlier, he was coach of Almeria, Cordoba, Murcia, Jerez, Racing, Recreativo and Aris Thessaloniki. After eight rounds of the Primera Levante occupies the penultimate 19th place in the standings with a total of 5 points.
