The former national player of England's Sol Campbell announced that he would join the race for mayor of London. The 40-year-old Campbell fights for the nomination of Conservatives and win, it will be one of the main contenders for the post of Boris Johnson.
'I could bring something new.', Campbell said in an announcement of his candidacy.
The former Arsenal and Tottenham defender added that he doesn't expect to lose votes, especially among fans of Tottenham because of his controversial career as a football player.
'If we continue to talk about football, it's not going to accomplish anything. This is about people's lives. I come from a working class, all my life I've worked hard to make it and now I want to help others and to make their lives better.', said Campbell.
The election for mayor of London in May next year, and in internal conservative party-just a month later, on 4 July.
