The veteran, Clemens Fritz, captain of Werder Bremen, will end his career at the end of the season, after playing professional football for 17 years already.
The 35-year-old footballer has joined Werder from Bayer Leverkusen in 2006, and also played for Rot Weiss Erfurt and Karlsruhe.
For the national team of Germany he has saved 22 games.
'In the last days and weeks, I was thinking seriously about my professional career.', announced Fritz on his personal page.
'After careful consideration, I have decided to end my career this year.'
He adds that to continue in another team and he wants to be the last club Werder Bremen, which is raced. In 2009 he won together with 'Bremen town musicians' the Cup of Germany, which was his only serious trophy. But in his card there are medals as champion of the Bundesliga, the UEFA Cup and finish with Germany at Euro 2008.
