The colossal wage of Wayne Rooney made the candidates for his signature give up. The Manchester United striker lost his status as a holder under the management of Jose Mourinho, but has a contract until the summer of 2018, with an option for extension by a further 12 months.
According to the contract, Rooney gets 343 000 euros per week, which is excessive for a club other than Manchester United. There is an interest in him from his former team Everton, but the club has never made a formal offer.
Manchester United is trying to take and transfer amount, making the task of finding a new team for Rooney even more challenging. Several Chinese clubs are also interested in him, but Rooney doesn't want to go to Asia for family reasons.
