The representative of Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina in the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open beat the first racket of the world Iga Shventek - 6:4, 6:4. In the second set, she played a break.
Rybakina won her 10th victory over rivals from the top 10 (with 13 defeats). For the first time, she beat the current first racket of the world.
A native of Moscow reached the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournament for the third time. She has previously done so at Roland Garros 2021 and Wimbledon 2022, which she ended up winning.
